WICKED WORKING DOGS

Have you ever wondered how to deepen your relationship with your dog?   Or, how about seeing if your dog is capable of working livestock?

Herding training offers the answers to these questions, and more.  Herding training is about working together as a TEAM.  The dog working effortlessly off commands and working for you.   It truly is amazing when the dog moves here and there, without a word from you, yet it was the correct thing to do.   The dog's instincts positioned him, so the livestock responded in the correct manner.  Seeing a dog work from instincts is very breathtaking.  They move and control the livestock with seemingly magical ability.  The best part about it, is that you are involved in all of this, too.

Herding Training helps  you and your dog learn to work in a true partnership.  It is just you, the dog and the livestock - nothing else.  Herding Training has helped some dog and handler teams  improve their relationship into other areas of dog performance.   For those teams, their performance in Obedience and/or Agility improved.  They credit their Herding Training,  for being a key to their improvement.

Herding is more than just  you and your dog moving livestock.   It's about giving the dog a job that he was born to do.   It isn't about a performance event you want to participate in.  This is something about what the dog was BORN to do.  It's about learning to work together as one.  It's about you seeing that the dog can work livestock and obey you at the same time.  Obey without resistance.  Getting the dog to WANT to work with you, without the lure of food or toys.  Learning to work your dog hundreds of feet away from you and to be confident that he will obey your signals.   It's about getting the dog to respond willingly, at those distances.   And, it's about all the fun and thrill of watching the dog work!

Wicked Working Dogs offers you and your dog the chance to experience the tradition of working livestock.    All Traditional Herding Breeds and mixes are welcomed to come and learn.   We also encourage non-traditional dogs to come train.  Some of these breeds we have worked with are - Whippets, Schnauzers, Ams Staff, and Kerry Blue Terriers.

We train YOU to train your dog.    Each Handler and Dog Team is given individualized attention.   Each session strives to bring about a Working Relationship for the Team.    Calm, Quiet and Confident control of the livestock is emphasized.
